From the Shed to the Flame: The Story Behind Rick’s Wood Shed Candle Co.
Posted on 4/13/25
I’ve always believed that the best things in life are made with heart, by hand, and with a little bit of grit. That’s exactly how Rick’s Wood Shed/Wood Shed Candles came to be.
What started as a simple idea—born in my wood shed and sparked by the love of creating something meaningful—has grown into a full-blown small business that I’m proud to share with the world.
As a Veteran-owned and operated business based in Bradenton, Florida, this candle company is more than just wax and fragrance. It's about connection. It’s about slowing down. And it’s about bringing a little warmth, light, and comfort into people’s lives—one small flame at a time.
Why Candles?
Because scent is powerful.
A single aroma can transport you to your childhood home, your favorite vacation, or the comfort of a quiet evening on the porch. I wanted to create something that brings those moments back—something honest, simple, and made with care.
Each candle is hand-poured using 100% soy wax, premium fragrance oils, and cotton wicks, all housed in matte black tins that bring a touch of rugged charm to any space. Whether you’re lighting one of our cozy scents from the Wood Shed Collection, melting a cube of your favorite wax melt, or diving into the mystical Full Moon Collection, I hope you feel the intention behind every product.
