Originally created to accompany The Companions of the Flame Collection, this expanded edition grew into something much more personal.

Rather than simply explaining the symbolism behind the bear, wolf, crow, cat, and fox, I wanted to explore what these companions have always represented to me, not just in folklore, but in the people I've been fortunate enough to know throughout my own life.

For this Expanded Digital Edition, I revisited the original manuscript, added a new introduction, refined the flow throughout the book, and shared more of the personal stories and experiences that inspired each companion.

My hope is that it feels less like reading about five symbolic animals...

...and more like recognizing pieces of yourself, and the people you've loved, within their stories.
